The Antoinette C. Hodes Academic Scholarship is given to a student who is enrolled in a Kentucky college or university, has performed volunteer service in a mental health setting, and is preparing for a career in the mental health field. The late Ms. Hodes was a Kentucky philanthropist.
The Evan and Katherine Harrod Academic Scholarship was established in memory of the parents of late board member Evan “Pete” Harrod and is given to a student who qualifies for a Hodes scholarship and is from a rural area. Mr. Harrod, a long-standing member of the board of directors of MHA-Kentucky, lived and farmed in Henry County.
You may apply for both, however only one scholarship will be awarded per person.
We will be awarding a minimum of two (2) scholarships worth $1,000.00 this year, one of each Hodes and Harrod. Last year, sponsors stepped up to help us award 5, so it is possible we will have more available to award.
Applications are Due March 1, 2025. Award recipients will be notified by May 1, 2025.
Awardees will be invited to attend our in-person event at the Capital Plaza in Frankfort on May 16, 2025.
Please note, these scholarships are NOT available to incoming college freshmen. They are each provided to someone further along in their academic career. Preference will be given to upper classmen, master’s students, and doctoral/medical students.
This year’s scholarships are only available to individuals who live in and intend to work in Kentucky. Out-of-state applicants will not be considered.
