2-Day Training: Structural Clinical Interview for the DSM-5

Online

This is a two day training that follows the standard of training recommended for providers to be prepared to administer the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM 5 (clinical version) to participants. This training will cover specifically diagnosis and relevant differential considerations best practices for the following disorder categories: Depressive Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Schizophrenia Related Disorders, Substance Use and Induced Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress and Rrelated Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders.

This training will be conducted in two sessions. Attendees must register for both sessions:
October 23, 2023, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST
October 24, 2023, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST

Dr. Ryan Melton, PhD will lead this training. Dr. Melton currently serves as Dean of The School of Psychology and Counseling, Director of Assessment and Associate Professor at Bushnell University. He is owner and operator of Endurance Counseling and Consulting LLC and Clinical Supervisor at PaceHealth Hospital.
Kentucky currently has nine Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) teams across the state, serving young people with or at risk of First Episode Psychosis (FEP). These teams are called iHOPE (Helping Others Pursue Excellence).
The focus of this training will be to enhance the clinical work of providers who serve young people with Clinical High Risk (CHR) for early psychosis or with First Episode Psychosis (FEP), by further improving differential diagnosis skills. Early identification, through awareness and effective screening, accurate and timely assessment, with subsequent early and effective service delivery, can dramatically affect negative trajectories traditionally associated with early psychosis and serious mental illness.

The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM 5 (SCID-5) is an assessment tool used to provide better diagnostic accuracy, thus ensuring adequate treatment protocols.
This training is made possible by Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) funds through Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities. Attendance is free.
